Whats the difference between different track shoes?
This is my first year running track and i dont have spikes but i need to get some. Im also doing high jump and hurdles and i noticed that they have different kind of shoes for each event. Whats are the differences between sprints shoes (200 – 400m) and high jump shoes? Also, could I buy one kind and use it for both events and what would be better, use sprint shoes for both events or use high jump shoes for both?

Would these accessories look good with this outfit?
I bought a dress and shoes for three events coming up – two Bar Mitzvahs and my 8th Grade Graduation. It’s a white eyelet dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves and the shoes are red patent leather wedges, about 2 1/2 inches high. I plan on doing my makeup bold, with white glittery eyeshadow, red lips, and loooong eyelashes.

For my accessories, I’m thinking of getting a bold white necklace, with a white patent leather clutch. I would do my nails red to match my shoes and lips, and my toes in a French pedicure. Would this look good? What other accessories should I be wearing?
I want the outfit to be very different from what all the other girls are wearing – they’re probably all wearing the same dull strapless dresses with gold or silver shoes and matching earrings… boring!

im thinking of getting a fuji s9100 is it good?
im planning to get a fuji prosumer s9100 digital camera, with a 28mm to 300mm lens, but its lens is not interchangeable, it has the look, feel and feature of a dslr, is it a good buy, worth the money, at its reasonable price, rather than getting a canon 350d or 400d, or a nikon d70s or pentax k100d. is it a good alternative to a digital slr camera, im planning to use it shooting events like parties, weddings, some portraits and pictorials, is it ok? it has a hot shoe, im thinking of getting a flash , what flash would be compatible with it, with ttl, zoom, etc.. would a nikon speedlight work with full functionality in this camera? shall i get this, or get a dslr instead. what d u think?

Is it ethical to buy something for a special event at Nordstrom and then return it immediately afterword?
Say I need a suit for a wedding and I buy a really nice one from Nordstrom, along with a dress shirt and shoes for $2000 total. Would they take it back a week later after I’ve worn them once? Is it ethical to return it?
I never liked the suits at Men’s Wearhouse. They’re always baggy and weird fitting. They make me look like a little kid wearing his dad’s suit.

    Track and Field Question?
I’m running indoor track and field for high school. I’m doing the 100m, 200m, and shot put (my coach wanted me to try it). I was about to buy track spikes for the 100 and 200 but I think they will mess me up while im doing shot put. Should I just buy some running shoes to use for all my events, buy seperate shoes for the running and throwing events, or do you have a different suggestion?

    Question about spiked shoes?
Can you take the spikes out of running shoes and not damage the shoes. And can they be used effectively in a different event the shoes are not for?

Because i do varied events and it will be a pain to have to buy multiple shoes for the events

  23. Steelfan3939

     /  October 23, 2011

The largest difference if your getting spikes is that sprinting spikes have 5 spikes where high jump have 6 in the front and another 4 in the back. Special spikes for high jumps and really can’t help you much unless your an elite high jumper.

Most people have sprinting spikes and use them for both.

Either will match… I personally like silver because if you are not careful with gold, then it can look tacky. But with this look, GOLD would be the best choice. silver doesn’t really match with cream. If you choose a suttle gold handbag and a cute gold shoe with some accents, you will have an ah-mazing outfit!! But you don’t want too much gold, so be careful…

Which asics shoe should I buy for cross country?

Which do you think is better(I’ve never bought asics before)?

Haven’t you ever seen a sitcom episode where someone buys something they plan on returning, but antics ensue and it ends up being ruined? And then they have to pay for it. A lot of times, you can tell that clothes have been worn. There is always the possibility that something will get on it. There is a very large chance that the store will not accept it, especially the shoes. You can easily tell if shoes have been worn. And ethical…would you want to pay a lot of money for clothes and, ew, shoes that have been used without your knowledge or consent?

If you can afford it, make the investment if you want the really nice one. You will without a doubt need a suit and dress shoes again. If you can’t afford it, go to a cheaper store and get a less expensive suit. Again, you will need to wear one sometime in your life again.

    Don’t do it.

What type of shoe should I buy for outdoor track?
I am a freshman track runner. This is my first year running, but since Cross Country, my coaches have encouraged me to stick with running because it looks like I will be getting a scholarship somewhere. In my first 6 months running I ran an 18:32 5k. I am definitely willing to spend money on these.

I will be running events ranging from the 4 x 400 m relay to the 3,200m run (primarily longer distances).

I tend to superpronate when i run. Can anyone give me any recommendations of a good shoe?

If you want a prosumer camera, there are better options. This review for the S9100 lists a few: http://reviews.cnet.com/Fujifilm_FinePix_S9100/4505-6501_7-32040457.html
But for parties and weddings, a dSLR would be a better choice anyway. These are low light situations where you can really use the better AF performance of a dSLR, can do without the shutter lag of a prosumer, and really don’t need the 1/10th second delay from an electronic viewfinder. You also get more advanced flash options and better high ISO quality (if you want to leave the flash off, or just use some fill flash in low light situations). Then, with portraits, a dSLR will give you much better bokeh. In all, that’s quite a list of advantages.
What you give up is the ability to shoot video and a nifty swivel screen for live preview.
I used to use a 35mm film camera myself, and when I bought a digital prosumer I cursed the thing. It was great for sunny landscapes but crap for just about everything else. This Spring I finally bought a dSLR and retired my film camera.
The dSLR models that you’re considering are all pretty good. I’d select either the 350D or the D70s, based on whichever feels better in your hands. The extra cash for the 400D would be better spent on lenses, and the K100D is a pretty basic model.
For lenses, I like the Nikon 18-70mm ($310) and the Canon 17-85mm ($500). Both brands also make a nice 50mm f/1.8 (< $100) for low light/ portraits. You can probably find all of those on eBay, too.

What is the best shoe for a beginner ballroom dancer?
Hello out there. My mom has been expressing a desire to start taking ballroom classes. So I decided to get her a pair of dance shoes and possibly a gift certificate to a studio for Christmas.

In any event… I have no clue what shoes to buy!!! I assume that a “practice” shoe would be the best because they’re probably built for the wear and tear that comes with using them all the time. My mom is 5’10 carrying a little extra weight, and has a back that can give her problems at times. When she goes to classes, she’ll probably be taking a combination of dance types.

So what shoes would you guys recommend? Please help – I’m rather clueless aside from knowing they need to be practice shoes and my price cap is $50. Thanks!

Are women genetically programmed to buy shoes every time they walk past a shoe shop?
    I have about 4 pairs:-

A pair of Brogues for work
A pair of casual for jeans etc
1 pair of trainers for scruffing about
1 pair of white trainers (In the unlikely event I’ll do sports)

My GF has about 40 pairs, that frequently seem to ‘breed’ in the cupboard.

Excuses normally go like this: -

“They were reduced from £50 to £10″

    “I don’t have that colour”

    “I don’t have that style”

Is it important to have every known colour, style, or type of Shoe . Boot that’s ever been designed?

Would she get withdrawl symptoms if she went a whole month without buying shoes?

Would she be a traitor to her sex if she walked past a Shoe shop without buying something from the sale stand?

    Just curious.

I was married 8 mo. ago and it really was the best day of my life!! I hardly drank any alcohol cause I was visiting and dancing all night!! I drank a lot of water though! Now, this is the truth. I loved my shoes! They were VERY comfortable. Not quite flats, just a 1inch heel. I wore them all around the house beforehand to wear them in a little. After the wedding, they started to get a little sore, the reception, they got even worse. By 8pm I was in so much pain, I could hardly stand it, I actually had to sit down and prop my feet up on a chair while everyone was dancing!!! I kept dancing after that though, cause it was my wedding day. But honestly, my feet never hurt so bad in my life! And I wear heels all the time. I will always rememeber that on my wedding day, my feet hurt more than they’ve ever hurt before. PLEASE, get some comfortable shoes for your reception. At the end of the night when I got into my suite with my beloved husband, he wanted to make sweet love and I walked right past him to the jacuzzi and soaked my feet for an hour instead. OUCH! did I get my point across?! Congrats and have a blast!!!!

    OMG!
Your girlfriend only has 40 pair of shoes?
    How does she survive?
You need to give her money for more!
She needs at least 10 or 12 different strappy Italian heels alone!
What about European pumps? Mules? Sandals?
5 or 6 inch stiletto snakeskin boots?
    Prada?
    Jimmy Choo!
    Cavalli?
    Manolo Blahnik!

There are 4 seasons in the year and countless occasions.
    The list is endless.

Your girlfriend needs to go shopping. Now!… before it’s too late! You should go with her to carry the packages.

I don’t think your questions is sexist at all.
Those who are accusing you of it are too uptight and probably have issues. They might be in doubt about their femininity.

I enjoyed your comments very much. They are witty and humorous…
    and TRUE!

if u have just bought a new shoe would u rather wear it on the day itself or keep it for an important event/s

It depends on what type of shoe I bought. If it was tennis shoes, I would wear them the same day. If I really really loved the shoes, I would save them for a special day.

Where can I buy shoes like these? (online)?
Not with that glittery heel, but a nice pair of flesh-colored shoes (heels).

Maybe dark brown, black, or multi-color jewelery that includes the color of the dress (but is not all the same color of the dress). Because of the shoe and clutch color, you don’t want to go pale on the jewelery.

Never try new things on the day of any race. Especially marathons.
Wear your shoes now, and as much as you can before your marathon.
If you have a bit of time, train in them for the remainder of your training and walk around the house in them too.
Wearing brand new shoes (even if they are the exactly the same brand/style and size) can have slight differences from your previous pair. Often running shoes change something, whether it is the stitching, midsole, tongue, fabrics, etc. That slight change could make some discomfort for your run. So wear them in case of blisters, if you do get them, you can use body glide to reduce friction.

    Good luck!

I’m a fellow freshman runner who also has foot problems. As far as training shoes go my coach reccomends to all the runners the Asic DS Trainers because of how light they are and how durable they are. As far as spikes most people go w/ some brand of Nike. I wear the Zoom Milers which are cheap and many pros wear. Also for XC I wore the Nike Zoom Forever and I know many other runners in North Carolina did as well. However my friend (a 4:24 miler) swears by Rival MD’s. Just go to Nike.com and check out Running- Men- Footwear- Cleats/Spikes- Competition and then they will have a sub catagory if you want one specified for sprints, long distance, or mid distance. They have a great selection and not too bad of prices. Good Luck and let me know which shoe you decide. By the way since you are a freshman will you try to compete in the National Freshman Mile at NIke Indoor Nationals and Nike Outdoor Nationals?

what track shoes should I buy?
I’m a sophmore in high school and im doing track for my first year, I have no idea what shoes I should buy all I have is basketball shoes. I was only planning on doing jumping events (high jump, long jump and triple jump) but the head coach wants me to do the 200 and 400 meter also and drop a jumping event which I have no problem with. I just need a pair of track shoes anywhere from 10-50 dollars. Is that possible? I really only want to pay a max of 25-30 dollars but it sounds unrealistic to me. Thanks for the help.

Cool dress shoe brands for men?
My 28 year old boyfriend has asked me to help him buy new shoes. Formal dressy black ones for work (he’s in pharmaceutical sales) and then less formal brown ones (I think he’s hoping he could wear these to bars and social events more than work.)

I’m a little out of the loop on what brands are good for either of these types of shoes. Do you have a favorite brand for shoes you’d recommend? Could you suggest a good place to start looking? Just trying to do a little prep work before we begin as I’m not sure how long I’ll have his attention for shopping. :) Thanks!

Most spikes can be removed using a spike wrench. They are cheap (mine usually even come with the shoe) and valuable to have. They are also useful to own because you may need to replace the spikes every now and then when they get worn down and dull (again, very inexpensive. You do not need to get new shoes for this. Go to a running store and ask for the spikes, not the shoes themselves, and they will gladly help you out).

As far as different shoes goes, it depends. If you are focusing mostly on distance events, than the shoes are generally the same and it won’t really matter. Same thing with the sprinting races. If you are varying between field, sprinting and distance events, you may run into a problem. While any pair of spikes is generally better than wearing flats, your performance will not be as good as it would be for a shoe designed for that distance. If you are varying in this way, get a mid-distance to long distance spiked shoe.

Also beware, if you buy sprinting spikes and plan on running a distance race, don’t use the sprinting spikes. You will get massive shin splints and they are a pain to deal with.

A good low price athletics (track and feild) shoe brand?
I am needing to buy a pair of track and field shoes. Is there a good quality, low priced brand (doesn’t need to be a popular brand) that sells track and field shoe for all events in general?

Are you looking for spikes? Most major running shoe brands make a track spike – Asics, Adidas, Nike, New Balance etc.

If you are looking for an all-purpose spike, consider getting a mid- or long-distance track spike. The biggest difference between even spikes in the flex in the spike plate and midsole amount – a mid distance spike gives a good intermediate of these. his is your most versatile shoe, as the midsole and spike configuration will allow you to still spint, do XC, or even do jumping events like triple and long jump. It’s not the “best tool” for the job, but definately the most widely versatile.

I’m in Canada, and we sell our spikes between $40-129. I believe American prices are much more reasonable.

The most important thing will be to get a few different sets of pins for your events – XC runners will wear longer, indoor track runners shorter. Rule of thumb (except for jumpers) is th the harder the substrate, the shorter the pin.

Some of the prices are still expensive, but better than the original prices.

You’re on the right track. Practice shoes would be best. Note that you’ll have to be careful with the sizing. Not only do dance shoes fit snugly, many are British imports, and British sizing is different from US sizing. Also, you can’t walk around in them and try them before you buy. Once you wear down the nap on the sole, they’re bought.

go to a shoe repair shop and ask them….they specialize in it, and they could probably give you something or do something to them to repair the cracks. It should not be too expensive

I have recently purchased a pair of Zoot shoes and I went a 1/2 size up and they feel fine. Zoots tend to run a little large; the larger size making transitioning easier. If you plan to wear socks I would suggest going a size up; if not (because they already have a sock liner) I would go with your original size, maybe 1/2 size up.

You have to buy multiple shoes. I think you have to buy 2, one for sprint events and one for field events. I dont do field so I wouldnt know. Each shoes is different for different event. If you look at it, sprinters shoes are different than distance.

Can i wear my spike shoes for all track meet events?
Well my mom doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on both running and spikes shoes… So i have some skechers that dont have lace for like training and i just got spikes . Can i use my spikes for every single event in track meets ? i am considering doing 100m 150m or 200m, then long jump high jump and maybe discus ? But i just need to know if it will be a problem for me having just spikes.

The Q basically is should i keep my spikes and wear my not really super good running shoes for “training” or should i just buy one pair of running shoes ?

** Our track is like red rubbery weird stuff not cement . ** So spikes are perfectly fine.

Question for the ladies, should I buy sneakers or sandals to wear with cargo shorts?
My sneakers are worn out and it’s time to buy new summer shoes. I have a pair of flip flops but looking for something to wear when I do a lot of walking (sporting events, walking in the city, hiking, etc). Any ideas? I’m thinking sneakers (with low cut socks) or some kind of sandal with straps (that doesn’t look geeky). Any suggestions would be welcome.
    I’m a guy btw.
